The Distant Learning program is for apprentices that
live more than 50 miles from one of our training centers in our
jurisdiction.
This program allows the apprentice to do his/her classroom portion
of the training at home by studying the textbooks and then taking
quizzes online. They are only required to come to one of the training
centers every other Saturday for a 10 hour day to take closed book
progress exams and get the required hands-on training.
This program cuts down on the long distance drives late at night,
possibly after a full day of work, and helps keep down the gas expenses
of apprentices that live in remote areas of the jurisdiction while
learning the same lessons and getting the same hours as everyone
else.
